Leeds Varsity Live 2011 - Rugby Union - 2nd Half


In conjunction with Met TV and Leeds Metropolitan University, students have taken part a live production exercise, producing a multi-camera live recording of the Leeds Varsity Rugby Union Clash filmed at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Commentary by Ben Hooper and Joe Cuthbert Study at Leeds Met: bit.ly Students from film, tv and media related courses were involved in all aspects of the production, from camera work, sound recording and event journalism,Over 1500 students compete in the all-day event, which features 52 matches across 25 sports, ranging from rugby league and football to mountaineering and Ultimate Frisbee. Leeds Met, who have never lost the city's inter university competition, beat the University of Leeds by eight matches 30-22 -- the closest ever margin. Varsity's main event is the men's rugby union match held at Headingley Carnegie stadium. A crowd of 9914 students watched as the University of Leeds secured a 14-10 victory in the showpiece match for just the second time in Varsity history. The game started slowly with both teams struggling to cope with the swirling wind and driving rain. Leeds University took the lead in the 12th minute with an Alex Graf Grote penalty. The Russell Group institution had several more chances throughout the half to increase their lead but Graf Grote missed his next two attempts. Leeds Met, who had not been out of their half since the 9th minute, snatched a try just before the interval to take a fortuitous 7 - 3 half time lead <b>...</b>
